Delta is a riveting Noir-Western set on the moody waters of the immense river, Po. An original cinematic backdrop, the Po is the principal artery of Northern Italy’s rivers, flowing from the base of the Western Alps to the Adriatic coast.
Alessandro Borghi (also in Eight Mountains) is brilliant as Osso (meaning bone), a man driven to save the river from over-fishing. What begins as a clash between fishermen and poachers grows with into something deadly. Hostilities seem inevitable as we discover that a ‘son’ of the very river has sided with the encroachers. Old biases, revenge, and retribution float to the surface of the foggy waters. An atmospheric, gritty and original story driven by passionate performances and authenticity. Director Michele Vannucci unravels the narrative with a deliberate and captivating air of suspense that will keep you nailed to your seat. - Paolo Rotondo
Awards / Premi
Winner / Prix du Jury Etudiants Le rencontres du Cinema Italien à Toulouse
Nominated / Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists, Best Cinematography, Best Score, Best Sound
Nominated/ Golden Anchor Award, Best Debut Film, Haifa International Film Festival
Compelling and original. - Meredith Taylor. Filmuforia
