Do you sell vouchers? - Yes we do! We have a great range of vouchers available for all Roxy fans to purchase, making the perfect treat for yourself or the ideal gift for those hard-to-buy people! Head to our Gift Shop page for more information.
'My voucher code isn't working online' - Only vouchers purchased at the new online Gift Shop can be redeemed online. If you have a handwritten card voucher, Vodafone voucher, Movie Card or Entertainment Book voucher these can only be redeemed in person at the box office.
What are your ticket prices? - You can find all our ticket prices on our website here.
What is your refund policy? - You can find our refund policy on our website here.
Can I bring my own food and drink? - We have a strict NO BYO policy for all food and drink. If you wish to bring your own food due to certain dietary requirements, then please let us know in advance. Beverages, confectionary, popcorn and ice cream purchases at The Roxy can be taken into the cinema theatres. Food from the counter and from the In-Theatre menu can also be taken into the cinema. There is also a free water station on the ground level.
Can I swap my seats? - Seat swaps are possible if the screening has not sold out but this can only be done in person at the box office.
‘I’ve lost my tickets’ - If you can provide us with your booking number then we will be able to hunt down your booking.
When do you release your film schedule? - We release our film schedule on a weekly basis. Sessions for Thursday through until the following Wednesday will appear on Tuesday night beforehand at the latest.
‘The website isn’t letting me book tickets’ - If you are trying to book online and getting a Sorry, there are not that many tickets available for the selected screening. Please try fewer seats or a different show time. This most likely means the screening is SOLD OUT.
If you are booking tickets online make sure you choose NEXT to process payment and not CONTINUE SHOPPING which takes you back to the homepage.
The Roxy website is optimized for regular Roxy trade (buying tickets to one film at a time). While booking for multiple films can sometimes work it's recommended to do this in person at the Roxy box office.
'It's not letting me select a seat' - In most normal sessions The Roxy does run assigned seating, but for special screenings & film festivals these sessions may be 'General Admission'.
Why does The Roxy make some sessions General Admission (GA)? Well, like most international film festivals around the world GA is the norm not the exception and we believe it has a lot of added benefits for film festivals & special screenings. First, it makes the booking process here on the Roxy website a smoother experience with fewer failed transactions. Second, it incentives fellow festival attendees to show up early and creates a rocking vibe. Third, The Roxy unlike other cinemas has been designed with a large dead space so even the front row is a good viewing experience. And finally, but most importantly, it means you can grab your tickets now, but arrange and convince more of your friends to come along later ... but you still get to sit together at the screenings.
‘I’ve been calling all day and no one is answering’ - If you are unable to get through to our box office team on the phone then it could be that they are extremely busy with in-store guests. Check our website for session times and try calling after the films have started as staff are likely to be more available once the films have begun.
‘I never got my booking confirmation email’ - Did you make payment? A common mistake is clicking CONTINUE SHOPPING and not NEXT. Your booking will not be confirmed if payment has not been made.
If payment has been made and you still haven’t received your confirmation email, then please call our box office team on (04) 388-5555 ext. 2 as they will be able to see whether your booking is in our system or not.
Do you have access to wheelchair users? - We have lift access from our ground floor level, and also wheelchair-friendly seats for your needs. Wheelchair bookings must be made in person or over the phone (04) 388-5555 ext. 2. This is to stop non-wheelchair users from booking these seats online.
‘I think I left my red umbrella in the cinema’ - For information on lost property, please phone the box office team at (04) 388-5555 ext. 2.
Do you do newborn screenings? - No sorry we do not do these screenings.
Do you have free parking? - There is unrestricted car parking space around the corner on Tahi Street, and further south on Park Road. If you're visiting just to buy tickets or to have a coffee, there are 30-minute parking spaces directly outside The Roxy.
Can you sponsor my local fundraiser/event? - For all sponsorship enquiries, please email susie@roxycinema.co.nz
What are The Roxy’s opening hours? - The Roxy is open all year round, Wednesday till Sunday from 9:00 am to late and doesn’t surcharge our services on public holidays. The Roxy homepage will note if we are closed on particular days with a 'The Roxy is closed today' film listing.
How do I get to The Roxy? - Take buses 2, 24, 31, 43 or 44 from Courtenay Place to Miramar shops. The trip takes roughly 25 minutes but allows time for traffic and delays. Check Metlink for timetables.
